General Advice

If you are currently experiencing chest pain it would be advisable to attend your GP or Emergency Department for evaluation.

In the Emergency Department you will be assessed by a Doctor or Nurse Practitioner.  A history will be taken and an ECG and blood tests will be performed.  Following this, a treatment plan will be made for you.

Description of Department/Service

PCI - Percutaneous Coronary Intervention, which involves the insertion of a balloon or stent into one or more of your coronary arteries (blood vessels).

Each patient who has a PCI will receive an appointment for the Post PCI clinic 4 – 6 weeks after the procedure.  This is a Nurse led clinic.  During your appointment you will be seen by a Specialist Cardiology Nurse or Nurse Practitioner who will take a full health history, perform a physical examination and review your current medications.

Education will be provided on risk factors, lifestyle and medications, and the Nurse specialist will answer any queries you may have.

If for any reason you cannot attend your appointment, please contact the Cardiology administration team to re-arrange:
